[Milliways] Sakura
Mar. 27th, 2016 01:16 amShe'd been awake for a few hours before him, and content to work on her schematics for the cabin before he woke. Now, more than ever, she wants to break ground. To make this thing real. As real as any troth, as any expression of their commitment to one another in some gilded festival beneath the two moons.
That feeling, that longing for something tangible, simmers beneath her thoughts as she makes the first pot of tea for the day. She uses the same electric kettle he brought to her room that first visit. The same mugs, too. They sit on a tray by the windowsill as she watches the morning ripen into day. She looks out over the MIlliways grounds towards the meadow.
Hold on. There's something different. Something new about the landscape below. Is that snow? No, it can't be. The remnants of the blizzard melted and disappeared days ago. If it isn't snow, what is it? She peers closer and draws a breath.
It's trees. Flowering trees.
Pale pink blossoms as far as the eye can see.
She stares in wonder for a long moment, hands covering her mouth. She can't help herself. She tiptoes back to his side of the bed and bends to whisper against his ear. "My love. Wake up, there's something you need to see!"
